Polycrystaline

Polycrystalline solar panels have blue-hued PV cells with straight edges. They have lower efficiency compared with monocrystalline cells, which means that more panels are required to achieve the same power output. The manufacturing process for polycrystalline panels is simpler. Polycrystalline panels are highly durable, but they tend to have a slightly shorter lifespan than monocrystalline panels. They are also more affected by high temperatures, which can reduce their performance on the hottest days.

Monocrystalline

Monocrystalline solar panels are characterized by their black PV cells with rounded edges. They have higher conversion efficiency than polycrystalline panels, which means they can produce more kilowatt-hours of electricity from the same amount of sunlight. If you want to install a solar panel system but have limited space, monocrystalline panels can provide higher energy output per square foot. While they are among the most efficient solar panels available, the manufacturing process for single-crystal silicon cells is more complex.
